In order to work for pollution free oceans, we need knowledge. We are proud and humbled to be part of and participate in this partnership with C4IR Ocean and establishing the "digital twin of the oceans".
Although there are millions of datasets of marine data aviable, there is nowhere this collected data is stored. We lack a platform where businesses, scientists and politicians quick and easy could get a documented overview and insight into the state of the oceans all over the world.
Ocean Data Platform (OPD) is a digital twin of the world's oceans. A digital twin is an exact copy of something physical, in this case the oceans, which includes components such as artificial intelligence, cloud-based services and IoT. ODP will be just this, a data platform receiving marine data from all over the world, putting it all together in one place. The marine data to be received on ODP will include ecosystems such as fish and birds, and human activitysuch as shipping, emissions and noise.
By accessing all this data in one place, the users will get unique access to information about the current state, trends, key figures and forecasts to make good decisions. When large amounts of historical data are collected in one place, there will be a solid basis for algorithms that can provide good calculations of future scenarios.
This way, the marine data platform will be an important tool in managing the ocean in a more sustainable way in the future.
